One of two broad classifications of melons (the other being watermelon), this is a round or oval shaped melon with sweet, juicy flesh and seeds in a fibrous, hollow center. Muskmelons may have netted skins (e.g. cantaloupe) or smooth skins (e.g. honeydew melon) that range in color from white to yellow to green. Their flesh also vary in color from light yellow to orange to light green.
